Been Eating This Soup For Years!

Posted by David Allan on Jan 26th 2026

I have been eating this soup for years. Originally it was available in Kroger's but when it disappeared I found your website. Here are my notes: 1) It works well either on the stove or in the crock pot. 2) Rotisserie chicken from the grocery store works really well for the shredded chicken, better than chicken tenders. 3) I use diced tomatoes instead of salsa to keep the sodium content down. It's hard to tell the difference in the end. 4) I typically add carrots, peppers, onions, and sometimes pinto or kidney beans. I often add crushed red peppers and cumin. 5) I end up using a little less chicken broth than the recipe. 6) The soup strangely seems to mostly absorb attempts to make it more spicy. Mild vs. hot salsa doesn't make much difference in the end. I'm tempted to try a habanero next. Even serrano peppers didn't make that much difference. 7) If you skip the tortilla chips the soup is pretty healthy. In summary, a great soup that produces several meals.

My experience —- this was a GREAT soup! We added our own chicken ( as recipe said) and we were delighted with the soup. What a wonderful product ! Bought it at our local Braum’s and will definitely buy again —- probably try the other flavors, as well.

My husband and I received this soup mix, along with two soup bowls for Christmas this year. Our kind neighbor gifted it to us. We are enjoying this delicious soup for lunch today on a cold winter day. What a great gift!

    Tortilla Soup

Posted by Dedra on Jan 1st 2026

I received this as a Christmas gift and decided to try it for New Year's lunch. I mixed spicy vegetable broth and chicken broth with a couple of cans of chicken and a jar of salsa and added a pouch of taco seasoning to give it a bit of a kick. Mighty tasty on a cold day. I know the recipe called for chicken, but I was wondering if canned roast beef or even frozen meatballs would work. I guess I'll have to just order a couple more packages just to find out....
