    Split Pea Soup

Posted by Susan on Jan 15th 2025

Good morning, I just wanted to tell you that I tried the split pea soup and it is the best I've ever had. I have been making this soup for years from scratch but no more. Will definitely use your soup mix from now on. I live in Austin TX and my HEB grocery store used to carry a few brands of your soup but no longer which is sad. But when you have your occasional sales and free shipping I stock up so all is good. Thank you for making such a delicious product. I am so grateful and wanted you guys to know - Susan

Best split pea soup I’ve ever had! And I grew up on it

I definitely recommend adding the Sherry, I used dry sherry and let it cook in there a little bit, also used ham hock instead of bacon, and it added a nice richness!

The worst spit pea soup ever.

Posted by Dianne McKay on Nov 19th 2024

I wasted money for the soup mix, chicken stock, and bacon. I did everything just as the recipe said. The peas would not soften. I cooked for 4-5 hours on stove in covered pan. It was terrible. ***Anderson House Reply*** Hi, we are so sorry you had a poor experience here. Perhaps it was past the "Best By" date? Or maybe you have hard water? Sometimes that can prevent bean softening. We've had this recipe for over 35 years with many positive experiences so we want to make this right! Give us a call 847.688.1200!

    Perfect pea soup!

Posted by Leona Perreault on Nov 3rd 2024

I love thick pea soup! I used my immersion blender to break up the peas once they had cooked for several hours. Perfect consistency. Great flavor! Served with a simple salad and crusty bread. Perfect for a chilly autumn day!

    All peas never got tender

Posted by Allene Sammons on Jan 1st 2024

I’m a huge fan of these soups normally. This one not so much. I cooked in crock pot for 8 hours. Peas still crunchy. Bumped up heat to high for an hour - still all not cooked. Yes I have a great crockpots! It’s an all Clad that I use all the time. * Anderson House response: We're so sorry for your frustrating experience. Slow cookers are a little tricky. On this soup, we do recommend 5+ hours on high to soften the peas.
